We at D & R Energy Services, Inc. are into preserving history. Many great people of our past were thinking “green” well before it was the latest “buzz word”. These great thinkers knew the benefits of Hydroelectric Power. Water power is the only Renewable Energy source that, under normal conditions, never stops. Just think, 24 hours a day – 7 days a week of electricity.
Many Historic Dams and existing Historic Hydroelectric Plants have become a thing of the past. Left to decay, these sites lost the potential they once had. Many old dams have only had minimal maintenance done over the years and now decay has set in. Some municipalities have considered breaching these dams to save money on costly repairs. We can show you how to save many of these sites and make money for upkeep.
The same is true for many of the old Powerhouses that dot the Southeastern Michigan countryside. These were built to furnish electricity for the factories built in the area back in the 1930’s by one of the most prominent figures in automotive history. Many of these sites fell into disrepair after they were shutdown when it became more cost effective to buy electricity then to produce it. The buildings have been restored but the grandeur of many of the hydro plants have not. But this can change.
Our Senior Engineer has always loved the marvels from the past and now he is able to help in the restoration of some of these historic treasures. He is not a desk engineer either, but one who loves to get his hands dirty by working on the install and renovation. We as a company will assess the site, produce an updated feasibility study, and help with grant writing and fund raising. It doesn’t stop there. Our staff will meet with Historical Society and Municipal Leaders to inform them of the project and answer any questions they may have.
Who knows better the site, the history and every little detail? You of course. This is why you are part of the team. This also helps save money on the project too.
So contact us today to see what may be done for your site. We are always here to answer any and all questions you may have.
