Energy Efficency Exchange

Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm spoke at the Midwest Industrial Energy Efficiency Exchange. The Energy Efficiency Exchange hopes to facilitate and implement energy efficiency projects for the industrial sector. During this event, we spoke with those presenting available financial and technical resources from federal, regional, state, and non-governmental sources. The Exchange also provided a venue for those with resources to help lower regional industrial energy intensity and related carbon emissions. Industry is a vital component of the Midwest’s economy, as it accounts for 4 million jobs and 16 percent of the region’s Gross Domestic Product. It also accounts for 35 percent of regional energy consumption and 16 percent of carbon emissions.

House Republican Jobs Taskforce

The House Republican Strategic Task Force on Jobs was created to address this crisis and put forth a plan of action to change our future. The framework in this report will be turned into legislation, and diligently advocated for by members of the House GOP caucus. While we won’t claim to have all the answers of the next big industry in Michigan, our effort is aimed at preventing government from stifljing or hindering job growth.

Michigan Representative Republican Bill Rogers said the initiative is a move to involve Michigan citizens, public policy experts and local officials to develop statewide initiatives that will improve the economic outlook for Michigan jobs.
